While London’s sun is busy teasing us with her late winter game of peek-a-boo, we yogis are busy on our mats and meditation cushions. This is a time of year that can seem so tedious, and if we don’t stay connected to our center, and to our practices, it is easy to feel a bit lost and weird. I remember when I was a kid, there was a comic strip that my parents had cut out of the newspaper and posted on their office wall. A large bird was seated at a desk, and was writing a definition of February: ‘The four month period between January and March….’ Late winter can be slow going, and it is a great time to practice keeping our eyes on that pale sun that shines up above, and to look inside to keep the inner light glowing twice as bright within!
I can share that I am renewing my New Year’s intentions even now, as it is easy for them to feel very far away only a month or two later! What did you want to work on this year? How have you been addressing those resolutions? Has life thrown you some ‘curve balls’ since then? Do those intentions still seem relevant, or do they need to be reconsidered in light of what has come up so far this year?
I would love to hear what is coming up for you; please feel free to email me and share what 2011 has been presenting. Your sharing helps me to teach to what is actually going on, and writing it out can be a great way to find a new perspective!
